Position: Research Associate
Qualification: M. Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Plant Breeding/Genetics, or a related biological sciences field is required.
Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience with DNA molecular marker procedures (i.e., DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis) or Double Haploidy or cDNA library construction or Transformation and ability to work outdoors in field plots under normal conditions are required.
  • Familiarity with scientific research procedures, effective written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and computer literacy are required.
  • Plant science research experience in a greenhouse environment, agricultural or plant breeding research experience, and experience with linkage mapping and related software are preferred.

Job Description: The primary responsibility in this position is to work as a member of a team to provide molecular marker support for various crop breeding programs. Specific areas of responsibility include greenhouse, laboratory and field research focused on DNA molecular marker discovery and marker-assisted selection, field and laboratory data collection, summarization, and computer analysis; and operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Position: Project Assistant
Qualification: First class M.Sc. / B. Tech / M. Tech degree in any discipline of Biology (preferable Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Bioinformatics) or Organic Chemistry from a recognized University/Institute.
Desirable

  • Preference will be given to those who have cleared NET (CSIR/UGC) / NET (LS) / ICMR / GATE.
  • Prior experience in handling bacterial cultures is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to working with eukaryotic cultures is an added advantage.
  • An aptitude for learning new techniques is a must.

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage ten (4) research fellows [01-Research Associate, 03-Junior Research Fellows],through a Walk-in-Interview on Friday, 16th April 2010. Position: Junior Research Fellow (2)
Qualification: Masters Degree in Animal Genetics/Molecular Ecology/Biotechnology
Desirable: Work experience in electrophoresis and molecular genetics using PCR based techniques, PCR-RFLP and DNA sequencing/developing species specific characteristics.
Job Description: Undertake for DNA extraction, PCR amplification and DNA sequencing for genotyping work for tiger samples.

1.Candidate for the position of Research Associate (RA-I) should be below 40 years of age as on 10th April 2010 and the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST. For the position of Junior Research Fellow, Technical Assistant and Project Biologist, the age shall not be more than 28 years as on 10th April 2010. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women/physically handicapped categories.
2.Selected candidate for the position of Research Associate (RA-I) will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 16,000/- per month and selected candidate for the position of Junior Research Fellow and Project Biologist will be paid a consolidated emoluments of Rs. 12,000/- per month. The fellowship amount for the selected Technical Assistant is Rs. 9,600/- consolidated per month.
3. The selection of the candidates will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Friday, 16th April 2010 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration of candidates will begin by 09:30 A.M. onwards.
